The climate crisis has become a core focus of my research and teaching in recent years, given the urgency of the myriad collective action problems we face in trying to avert the worst consequences of global warming, and the opportunity to foster a socially just sustainability transition. My research thus tends to focus on alternative organizations that aim to serve such a transition, and I teach alongside Dr Marcus Gomes on the ‘Managing Nature’ module of the International Management MSc programme at Cardiff Business School.
The danger posed by current UK government decision-making has also motivated me to become engaged in climate activism. This short video, which was presented at the 2023 AoM conference during the CMS Plenary session “Being Critical of Climate Injustices”, briefly explains my understanding of the relationship between academic work and climate activism.
